Lanny Carew, Chairman

Lanny has extensive experience in government relations, promoting business and political agendas related to media, broadcasting, and alternative energy. His communications skills were sharpened as a story editor for filmmaker Otto Preminger in New York and Los Angeles. Carew then worked in government relations as a member of Vice-President George H.W. Bush’s White House Advance Team. He traveled extensively throughout the United States setting up military intelligence, White House Communications, Secret Service, and logistics for high-level events and speeches.
Subsequently, Carew helped launch Turner Broadcasting International’s CNN operations in London. As head of Government Affairs for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, he oversaw the distribution of CNN International into 44 countries. After successfully completing his assignment for Turner, SuperChannel (now CNBC) moved him to Moscow to expand satellite services into Russia. He oversaw the service expansion into Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Siberia, and Azerbaijan, where he interacted with heads of state, senior officials, and business leaders. In this position, Carew spoke before the International Press Institute in both Buenos Aires and Montevideo. He also spoke at the President of Portugal’s International Satellites and Telecommunications Conference in Lisbon, and the European Union’s satellite meetings in Brussels.
Carew performed consultative services for the Federal News Service, a transcription and translation business, and then was hired as its Chief Executive Officer to streamline operations. He aggressively moved to digitize and update the company to give it a solid foundation for its subsequent sale to the Dolan Group in Minnesota.
Throughout his travels, eventually to 58 countries, Carew came to realize the growing need for renewable energy providers and created the International Energy Partnership, which he now heads.
